Founder
DR. KIM MANJO
Dr. Kim Manjo is a food scientist who earned her Ph.D. from Walden University, United States. She is also recognized as the first Korean woman to obtain a doctoral degree through a scientific publication focused on Kimchi. Throughout her career, she has been actively dedicated to sharing knowledge about Kimchi with communities around the world. In 1996, she brought her expertise and passion to Indonesia.
Driven by her commitment to educating young generations and empowering them to create positive change while improving their quality of life, Dr. Kim Manjo founded the Sages International Foundation in 2006. The foundation was established with a vision to provide education and opportunities that enable individuals to develop their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
The Sages Institute, International was built to inspire and nurture the human spirit through the beauty of culinary arts. It is dedicated to delivering effective, efficient and high quality education with passion and perseverance.

In 2006, The Sages International Foundation realized Dr. Kim Manjo’s vision of improving the quality of life of the Indonesian people by establishing The Sages Institute International in Surabaya. The institution was founded with a strong dedication to providing effective, efficient, high-quality culinary education and training that meets international standards.
As public interest and demand for culinary arts education continued to grow, the institution evolved to better serve the needs of aspiring culinary professionals. On October 16, 2019, pursuant to the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 983/KPT/I/2019, The Sages Institute International officially transformed into Akademi Sages. Since then, Akademi Sages has remained committed to becoming a leading culinary vocational institution in East Java, delivering industry-relevant education and nurturing future culinary talents equipped for global opportunities.
