Surabaya, Indonesia — Akademi Sages welcomed a special visit from Chef Rafael Triloko Basanto, President Director of the Indonesian Professional Chefs Association (Asosiasi Chef Profesional Indonesia/ACPI), on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The visit marked an important opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the educational institution and the professional association in supporting the development of human resources in the culinary and hospitality industries. Chef Rafael arrived at Akademi Sages in the morning and toured the campus, taking the opportunity to observe the institution’s learning facilities firsthand. During his visit, he also met with students and shared insights and motivation regarding the wide range of career opportunities available in the hospitality industry, particularly in culinary arts and kitchen operations. In his message to the students, Chef Rafael emphasized that pursuing a career in the culinary industry requires more than simply having an interest in cooking. According to him, a deep passion and genuine commitment to the profession are essential in ensuring that every process undertaken in the kitchen is carried out with dedication and excellence.

His message served as an encouragement for Akademi Sages students to develop not only their technical skills but also their commitment, discipline, and passion for the field they have chosen. These qualities are expected to become an important foundation as students prepare to meet the demands and continuously evolving dynamics of the hospitality industry. Following the campus tour, Chef Rafael continued his visit with a discussion with the Akademi Sages Foundation. The meeting explored potential areas of collaboration between Akademi Sages and the Indonesian Professional Chefs Association, particularly in efforts to promote the diversity of Indonesian culinary heritage and encourage the emergence of a new generation of young people with strong interest and competence in the culinary industry. The proposed collaboration is expected to create greater opportunities for students to gain direct insights from industry professionals, expand their professional networks, and acquire practical experiences that are relevant to the demands of the workplace. At the same time, stronger collaboration between educational institutions and professional associations is expected to make a meaningful contribution to the advancement of Indonesia’s culinary industry.
