Two Akademi Sages Student Delegates Present the Topic “Coping Strategies” at Misamis University’s Hybrid Student Leadership Dialogue

In commemoration of the 58th ASEAN Anniversary, Misamis University hosted a Hybrid Student Leadership Dialogue last August. Carrying the theme “Towards an Inclusive & Sustainable ASEAN Future,” the event aimed to strengthen the role of student leadership in shaping an inclusive and sustainable future for ASEAN. As part of the commitment of ASEAN member states, higher education institutions (HEIs) are encouraged to actively support regional cooperation and cross-cultural understanding to promote development and peace.

Two Akademi Sages student delegates present the topic “Coping Strategies” during Misamis University’s Hybrid Student Leadership Dialogue.

Through this dialogue, Misamis University collaborated with various higher education institutions from both within and outside the region to empower students as agents of change in their communities. The event involved international collaboration with several leading universities across ASEAN, including Sages Academy. Organized in a hybrid format (online and onsite), the dialogue created a platform for cross-national and cross-cultural exchanges, expected to further strengthen the spirit of collaboration among ASEAN youth.

The main focus of the event was student leadership development as a key to building a more inclusive and sustainable ASEAN future. From Sages Academy, 21 students participated, with two delegates, Aliyah and Eva, selected to present on the theme “Coping Strategies.” They were chosen not only for their English proficiency and dialogue skills, but also for their proven experience in leadership. Interestingly, their presentation highlighted leadership in the culinary (Food & Beverage) industry, offering a slightly different perspective compared to other universities.

This international engagement served as a platform for students to actively participate in programs with international standards. Moreover, it represented a realization of the collaboration between Sages Academy and several universities in the Philippines. Reksita, representing the Student Affairs Office, expressed the hope that this program would inspire other students to actively engage and showcase their talents at both national and international levels.
