He Rich Flavors of Batavia Presented Through Student's Creativity In A Culinary Competition

Students from Pradita University and Akademi Sages participated in a Batavia-themed culinary competition, showcasing modern Betawi dishes such as Kerak Telor, Sate Asem, and Nasi Uduk Betawi.

Universitas Pradita successfully organized a culinary competition themed Batavia, bringing together outstanding young talents from various regions across Indonesia. The event served as a platform for university students and high school participants to showcase their creativity in processing the rich and distinctive flavors of Betawi cuisine through contemporary culinary techniques. In line with the spirit of preserving Indonesia’s culinary heritage, the competition emphasized not only taste but also cultural exploration and presentation concepts that highlight the uniqueness of Batavian cuisine. Dozens of participants from various educational institutions took part, presenting authentic Betawi dishes such as Soto Betawi, Gabus Pucung, Laksa Betawi, as well as innovative dessert creations inspired by Betawi flavors and local ingredients.

In this prestigious event, Akademi Sages successfully impressed the judges and proudly brought home a Gold Medal through the remarkable work of its two representatives, Patricia Christie and Ebbya Kamga. Their creations featured modern culinary techniques while preserving authentic Betawi tastes as a creative interpretation of local culinary heritage. Their winning menu included an appetizer of Kerak Telor with Empal Suwir infused with Soto Tangkar spices, followed by a main course of Sate Asem Betawi served with Nasi Uduk Betawi. This achievement demonstrates the important role of the younger generation in further developing and promoting Indonesia’s rich culinary heritage. The accomplishments of Patricia Christie and Ebbya Kamga also reaffirm Akademi Sages’ commitment to supporting industry-based learning and cultural preservation within the professional culinary field. Through this competition, Universitas Pradita not only encourages skill-based excellence but also fosters awareness of the importance of culinary innovation and the preservation of regional flavors.
